Safety Just Got a Little Technological

Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ is redesigning how safety and technology coincide. Using a variety of cameras and sensors, you’ll feel completely confident behind the wheel with this second set of eyes.

With many different features to this cutting-edge safety suite, each deserves its own recognition. Let’s take a closer look at how each of these systems work.

Nissan ProPILOT Assist

This available feature works to make your commute and city driving as simple as possible. Travel with more confidence with Nissan ProPILOT Assist by your side. Small curves and highway driving are a thing of the past thanks to this groundbreaking system. With Nissan ProPILOT Assist, you’re taking the universal cruise control setting and kicking it up a notch or 20.

By pressing the Nissan ProPILOT Assist button, you can set a specific distance you want to keep between you and the vehicle in front of you. It’ll speed up and slow down to help keep you with the flow of traffic. If need be, it can even bring the vehicle to a complete stop.

This feature can even help maneuver gentle turns. Using the lane markers ahead of you, Nissan ProPILOT Assist will systematically keep you centered within those lanes.

Nissan Safety Shield® 360

This group of six available safety features all work together to create a nonstop, 360-degree second pair of eyes. Not only do these features constantly monitor your surroundings, they can also intervene if need be.

The features of this shield include:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Rear Automatic Braking
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Blind Spot Warning
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • High Beam Assist

Using one of the front-mounted cameras, the high beams will turn on when low light is detected.

When a vehicle is oncoming the headlights will switch from high beam to low beam until the vehicle is no longer detected.

With the help of High Beam Assist, you’ll no longer have to constantly flip back and forth from the high beam to low beam setting of your Nissan Altima. You’ll be able to keep both hands on the wheel while the Nissan Safety Shield® 360 can help do the work for you.

Intelligent Around View® Monitor

Nissan Altima TechUsing a collection of cameras, a bird’s-eye view of your surroundings is projected onto your center display with this available feature. Backing in and out of spots just got easier!

You can choose from front, rear, curbside, close-up, or split-screen views of your Nissan Altima exterior. If an object is detected within your range, you’ll receive an on-screen alert. The Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Warning, and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning are all aspects of this feature.

Additional Safety Features

The technology-driven aspects of Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ aren’t the only safety features offered with the Nissan Altima. A series of additional standard safety features work as both active and passive features.

Active

These safety features work to prevent accidents from occurring. They also work to reduce the severity of an accident if it’s unavoidable. Some of the active safety features of the Nissan Altima are:

  • Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)
  • Traction Control System (TCS)
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
  • Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)

The Traction Control System (TCS) can detect wheelspin and help accelerate so you regain any lost traction. This system is great for snow, ice, and rain conditions to help keep drivers on path.

Passive

This type of safety feature works to protect and lessen the severity of injury to the occupants of the vehicle. Some of the passive safety features include:

  • 10 airbags
  • 3-point ALR/ELR seat belt system for driver
  • Front and rear seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters
  • LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children)

LATCH works with the Snug Kids® Child Safety Seat Fit Guide. Using this guide, available on the Nissan website, you’ll be able to know which child seat is compatible with the standard LATCH feature. You’ll also receive tips on proper seat installation.
